Origin Piece V — The Notorious B.I.G. is a tribute to one of hip-hop’s most influential artists and to the visual language of the streets that shaped an entire generation.
Executed on a pair of vintage Timberland 6-Inch boots—an icon of New York street culture—the work was created by tattooing directly into the leather using a professional tattoo machine. Rather than treating the boots as footwear, the leather becomes a permanent surface for tattooing, extending the language of the tattoo beyond the human body.
The portrait does not seek to recreate history. It pays homage to it.
Like hip-hop itself, the work embraces reinterpretation—building something new from cultural references that continue to inspire artists across generations. The result is neither fashion nor custom footwear, but an original artwork where craftsmanship, memory and street culture converge.
