Description

The koi featured on this garment derive from the full sleeve composition of Origin Piece I — Marked Sleeves.

Developed in reference to Japanese tattoo iconography, the twin koi are arranged in circular movement — bodies turning against one another while maintaining directional flow across the sleeve. Their movement is constructed through layered linework, controlled curvature, and balanced negative space.

In the original work, the koi were hand-painted directly onto leather.
This garment translates that intervention into a structured fleece format while preserving the rhythm and compositional tension of the source work.

Built with a ribbed crew neck, cuffed sleeves, and a flat hem, the silhouette remains clean and architectural. The brushed fleece interior adds weight and insulation without disrupting the clarity of the printed mark.

The structural form behind the figures references the underlying layout used within the sleeve composition, reinforcing movement while maintaining balance across the garment.

Not the origin.
Derived from it.
