Singular works.
Hand-marked.
Not repeated.
The Origin Piece
The Origin Pieces form the foundation of the Baldr practice.
Each work is produced once.
Hand-made.
Permanent in intervention.
From these works, subsequent garments may draw.
The originals remain singular.

Paper defines the composition. Leather carries the intervention. Each line is transferred manually before paint is applied.

Line becomes surface. Surface becomes permanent. Hand-applied. Layer by layer.

The first colour enters the composition. The koi is laid in before the surrounding elements are resolved. Each layer builds the movement of the sleeve. Origin Piece I — Marked Sleeves.

The phoenix begins as structure. Linework defines the figure. Colour follows later, building depth and direction. Origin Piece I.

The koi emerges through layered colour. Scales, fins, and water are built gradually across the leather surface, allowing the figure to settle within the movement of the sleeve. Origin Piece I — Marked Sleeves.

The composition begins to connect. Floral elements, water, and koi establish the rhythm across the sleeve. Each section is completed in relation to the next. Origin Piece I.

Paint laid directly into the leather surface, following the original sleeve composition. The phoenix — a symbol of renewal and ascent — begins to take form within the structure. Line by line. Layer by layer. Soon. Origin Piece I — Marked Sleeves

Pigment before the mark. Every Origin Piece begins the same way: tools, color, surface. Layer by layer the composition is rebuilt directly onto the garment — not printed, not transferred. Only after the structure holds does the figure appear. Origin Piece I — nearing completion.
